What we cover in this blog ?

Our pets are such amazing friends and quickly integrate into the family, bringing us so much joy. Whenever we can, we celebrate our pets by having pool parties, dressing them up in cute clothes and pet collars, and celebrating special days.

We all enjoy including our pets on significant holidays like Christmas and Halloween, but there's no reason we can't do so throughout the entire year. But did you know there are numerous other pet holidays to observe in addition to the well-known ones? We have compiled a list of pretty much all September holidays for pets!

September

Greetings from fall, and get set to party! Numerous pet-related events, like the World's Largest Pet Walk and National Hug Your Hound Day, fall in September.

Month Long Observances:

  • Happy Cat Month:

Happy Cat Month, observed in September each year, is a celebration that strives to inform and educate cat owners on what they can do to keep their pets happy and healthy. The CATalyst Council organizes it with assistance from partners.

  • Animal Pain Awareness Month

Animal Pain Awareness Month is in September, so be sure you are fully informed so you can look after your pet's safety and well-being. When it comes to pain management, whether for acute or chronic pain, the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM) educates and informs pet owners about the health and well-being of their pets.

  • National Pet Insurance Month

Pet owners, shelters & rescues, veterinarians, and insurance providers commonly recognize September as National Pet Health Insurance Month in the United States and Canada.

A specialized form of insurance coverage called pet insurance is intended to offer pet owners financial security against high medical expenses.

  • Responsible Dog Ownership Month

The month of September is Responsible Dog Ownership Month! Even though we all prefer to think of ourselves as caring pet owners, we all make mistakes. This month-long initiative, started by the American Kennel Club (AKC), aims to teach dog owners how to raise healthy, content pets.

  • Pet Sitter Education Month

The month of September is designated as Pet Sitter Education Month. This month-long celebration was started by Pet Sitters International (PSI) to draw attention to pet sitters' dedication to ongoing education and promote the programs now available to pet sitters.

  • World Animal Remembrance Month

It's World Animal Remembrance Month in September. This month is dedicated to remembering animals that have passed away.

Week-long Observances:

  • Sept. 18-24: Deaf Dog Awareness Week

National Deaf Dog Awareness Week aims to increase public understanding of the deaf community. It's also a chance to honour our canine companions, who are special in that they can interact with humans in various ways.

  • September 3rd Week: Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week

Every year, the third week of September month is designated as Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week. By making people aware that these less adoptable animals also need a loving home, rescue organizations, animal shelters, and medical facilities help to increase public awareness.

  • September 4th Week: National Dog Week

The final week of September is designated National Dog Week every year. The weeklong celebration of man's greatest friend is geared toward educating dog owners and the general public, increasing awareness of canine care, and assisting abandoned, abused, or lost dogs in finding homes.

One-Day Observances:

  • September 4: National Wildlife Day

On September 4, National Wildlife Day promotes increased awareness of the local and global wildlife. This National Day emphasizes global conservation, preservation, and efforts to protect endangered species.

  • September 8: National Dog Walker Appreciation Day

This day, which Wag! started, is set aside to honour dog walkers as their unsung heroes. This day was established to express gratitude to those who devote their time and efforts to caring for our dogs. Some cute personalized pet id collars can make heads turn around for your pet.

  • September 11: National Hug Your Hound Day

National Cuddle Your Hound Day gives our canine friends a furry hug on the second Sunday in September. Make sure to offer your dog your undivided attention throughout the day. Even go about your day much the same way your dog does.

  • September 11: National Pet Memorial Day

Every second Sunday in September, on September 11 this year, pet owners throughout the nation commemorate their cherished pets who have passed away on National Pet Memorial Day. National Pet Memorial Day is a wonderful opportunity to remember your favourite pets and pay tribute to their memories.

  • September 17: National Pet Bird Day

It's National Pet Bird Day on September 17, so fluff your feathers and practice your singing. There are many reasons to celebrate and pleasure National Pet Bird Day, especially if you love birds and pets!

  • September 17: Responsible Dog Ownership Day

The United States observes Responsible Dog Ownership Day on the third Saturday of September, which falls on September 17, 2022. Responsible Dog Ownership Day was created to remind all pet owners to keep their commitments to their "furever companions" and to get them to "pawse" and remember them.

  • September 19: National Meow Like a Pirate Day

Since 1995, September 19 has been celebrated as Talk Like a Pirate Day, but in 2015, Meow Like a Pirate Day was added to honour cats, as a pirate without a cat is rarely seen.

  • September 23: Remember Me Thursday

It is an international social media awareness day that raises awareness of the millions of adoptable pets sitting in shelters to memorialize those who haven't yet made it.

  • September 23: National Dogs In Politics Day

On September 23, National Dogs in Politics Day, we honour The First Dog of the United States (FDOTUS), who specializes in all Americans' hearts. This day also recognizes Revolutionary Rovers, First Fidos, Political Pooches, or Candidate Canines.

  • September 28: World Rabies Day
